Traditional Fishing

Ambatozavavy is a village of fishermen and farmers, located north-east of Nosy Be, 11km from Hell Ville. En route to Ampasipohy and a visit Lokobe Park, this village is mainly known for the stone that gave it its name: “Ambatozavavy”, a combination of “Vato” (stone or rock) and “zavavy” (woman). Therefore, the name of the village would mean “Female Rock”.

Watch Sunset on Mont Passot

Mont Passot is a mountain which reaches a height of 329 meters, the highest point of Nosy Be, it is surrounded by small blue lakes considered sacred. An afternoon hiking or simply going there to observe the panoramic view of Nosy Be, at the time of the sunset is particularly magnificent.

Explore the Lokobe Nature Reserve

Getting to Lokobe Nature Reserve is an adventure in itself. The road comes to an end where the mangroves begin. As soon as you reach the water level, you’ll jump into a pirogue (a type of canoe) where you’ll have to paddle your way across to the village at the entrance of the reserve.

Stroll along Nosy Iranja beach

Nosy Be has no shortage of great beaches. Just 90 minutes away by boat, Nosy Iranja is a gorgeous island, made up of two islets: Nosy Iranja Be and Nosy Iranja Kely. At low tide, they’re connected by a thin, 2km (1.2mi) strip of white sand.
